‘Won’t let them operate till they register blood banks, post operative care’
Minister for Health and Medical Education, Choudhary Lal Singh Tuesday directed health officials to ban all the private hospitals and nursing homes of Jammu and Kashmir from performing surgeries till they setup and register proper blood banks in their premises for admitted patients.
The minister said the issue of illegal clinics, diagnostic centers and private hospitals would be raised in upcoming Assembly session to develop consensus over the closing of unauthorized hospitals and nursing homes.
“We will not allow any nursing home or hospital risking the life of gullible patients by doing surgeries without proper blood banks and postoperative care. We will close them down soon if they don’t have own blood bank,” Singh said.He was speaking at an award ceremony organized by Jammu and Kashmir Private Diagnostic Centers Association (JKPDCA) to felicitate brave hearts, flood heroes felicitated.
“Why should patients suffer in these places even after investing huge money?” he asked.
The minister also accused some unscrupulous government hospital officials of selling blood to these nursing homes for petty gains.
“This is very shocking and unfortunate that such bloody business is running in our state,” he said.
Singh also warned doctors and paramedics to refrain from skipping emergency and night duties.
“They should choose between private practice and government job. Otherwise we will be forced to terminate services of those who are found absent during peak hours,” he warned.
The Minister also asked private health service providers to refrain from indulging into ill-practice.
“It finally affects the common man if somebody does ill-practice or get exploited through corporate,” he said.
